Free Canoe Trip!!!

Friends-
Free Canoe Trip!!!
Clements Canoes has donated 6 canoes for Saturday, May 9th.  Oh, to take advantage of this great opportunity,  you do have to volunteer for a project to pull trash out of Sugar Creek from Shades State Park down to the Narrows at Turkey Run State Park.  We will meet at Clements Canoe Rental located on SR 234 north of Waveland at 9:00 a.m.  If you are "in" for this project please confirm with Greg Oskay at goskay25@att.net  The first 12 volunteers are in.
Don't feel comfortable wrestling with tree limbs and beer cans?  Then join us at 10:00 at Turkey Run Nature Center to walk the trails and pick up trash.

Bring gloves and dress appropriately for the day.

If the water is too high or the weather unfit for canoeing,Sugar Creek volunteers will adjourn to Turkey Run State Park and help with trash clean-up.

Volunteers needed!

Do you have some extra time on April 24th & 25th? Volunteers are needed on these days for Earth Day programs at Turkey Run Nature Center. Friday is all about helping school age children learn about Earth Day and Saturday is open to the public. If you are interested, please contact Barbara Tibbets at (765) 597-2654.

Audubon Society – discussion of Indiana butterflies

We have had a cool opportunity pop up! The Wabash Valley Audubon Society is having their Annual Banquet this week At this banquet, they have 2 speakers that our group might find interesting. Jeff & Sandy Bleth. Jeff has written a book - Butterflies of Indiana - A Field Guide - and will be talking to the group about identifying butterflies common to our areas. His wife Sandy Bleth is an Assistant Naturalist for Monroe County Parks & Recreation and will be discussing Monarch butterflies life cycle and migration patterns. This sounds like it would be a great time!

The banquet will be held on April 16th at 6pm at MCL Restaurant, 25th and Ohio Blvd in Terre Haute. There is a $20 admission for the banquet.

If anyone is interested, please email Phil Cox at philwcox@gmail.com to reserve a spot!
